Caring also means staying. Staying in an unfinished conversation, staying to share a table without phones, staying beside someone who doesn’t know how to express what they are feeling. Together, we can transform our everyday environments into places of genuine connection.
Adolescent mental health is not an isolated clinical issue; it is a reality that concerns us all.
Young people often retreat into the digital world because they feel that, in the real world, we adults do not always have the time or energy to hold space for their silences.
But adults aren’t immune to this pattern either: we answer emails while being spoken to, scroll through our phones on the couch to avoid an awkward moment, or put off an important conversation because we’re “flat-out busy.”
To mark World Mental Health Day, CBRE—together with our social partners—is creating a safe space for listening within our shopping centers and office buildings.
We firmly believe that physical spaces should offer more than just transit or consumption; our properties are ideal places for communities to pause, meet, and rediscover genuine connection.
